Ride 4 Sight

To the 5000 cyclists who rode the Dis-Chem Ride for Sight on Sunday 17th February, 2019  the 31st edition of this exciting road race.  Through the generous donations of the cyclist the Donation Draw raised Rover R54 480.00   and this amount was  matched by the Dis-Chem Foundation resulting in a great total of R108 960.00.

These funds will help needy families to pay for genetic testing to ensure their children are not left out of promising therapy trials. All other proceeds support genetic research to find treatments for retinal blindness which is being conducted at the University of Cape Town.

The winner of the fantastic KTM bike in the donation draw was Elie Kouaiky and we thank CycleLab for this generous donation.  The 2 runners up each won a super 7 night hoiday at Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort in Zanzibar.  Thanks to the Cousins family for this sponsorship.

Congratulations to Marc Pritzen winner of the 116 km Super Classic event and the Ernest Hunt Trophy- the oldest cycling trophy in South Africa still in use. The Ladies event was won by Michelle Benson. Congratulations to all the category and lucky draw prize winners but the real winners on Sunday were the thousands of South Africans racing against time to save their vision. Thank you on their behalf. For full results see www.racetec.co.za
