Alani Ferreira
Hi I am Alani Ferreira (22) and I am from Pietermaritzburg, KZN. I was diagnosed with Stargardts Macular Dystrophy at age 12 after noticing delays when playing tennis and trouble sight reading the piano.
I continued to pursue sport but shifted my focus back to swimming.
In my matric year, I was selected as part of the SA team to compete at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro and have also been to two Paraswimming World championships. When not in the water, I am busy working on my final year of BCom Strategic Management and am hoping to further my studies next year by doing an Honors in Business Management.
I am passionate about people and am excited to see what the future holds for the Youth of Retina SA.
